Hotels: Malaysia certifies 22 Kuala Lumpur as Halal

Late last year, some MPs made a complaint in Parliament that insufficient hotels in the capital were certified halal. One made a demand that all hotels should be so certified.
Now 22 hotel owners have met the standards required by JAKIM. In addition to the hotels, 51 restaurants have been certified.
The list is up to date as at 9 August and the timing of the list is, JAKIM says, to enable foreign missions to select halal venues when hosting events during Ramadan where early evening events break the daily fast for Muslims.

The list of hotels is as follows:
  1. Ancasa Hotel,
  2. Brisdale International Hotel,
  3. Crystal Crown Hotel,
  4. Dynasty Hotel Citrus Hotel,
  5. Grand Seasons Hotel,
  6. Pan Pacific KLIA,
  7. KLI Hotel, Hotel Putra,
  8. Legend Hotel,
  9. Midah Hotel,
  10. Ming Court Hotel,
  11. Corus Hotel,
  12. Puteri Park Hotel,
  13. PNB Darby Park Executive Suites,
  14. Quality Hotel City Centre,
  15. Residence Hotel Universiti Tenaga Nasional,
  16. Seri Pacific Hotel,
  17. Hotel Maluri,
  18. The Plaza Hotel Kuala Lumpur
  19. Tradewinds Hotels & Resorts
However, almost all hotels in KL operate at least one "pork free" restaurant. Often the meat is halal but in declining to seek halal certification they, along with most restaurants and coffee shops, are free to serve alcohol alongside the food.
