Bird’s nest from Kelantan is halal

KOTA BARU: Bird’s nest products from Kelantan have been certified halal by the Islamic Development Department, State Trade committee chairman Datuk Anuar Tan Abdullah told the state assembly. He was replying to Mohd Adnan Kechik (BN-Bukit Bunga) who raised doubts on whether such products are safe to consume for Muslims. Anuar Tan said there was no reason to worry. Meanwhile, state Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the state was keen to work closely with the State Tourism Action Council chaired by Abdul Aziz Derashid (BN-Kuala Balah). However, the offer was never accepted. Takiyuddin wanted the council to liaise with the state when it came to implementing projects. “This results in duplication of projects and lack of coordination between the state and federal in terms of tourism,” he said. He said projects worth RM39mil was only dished out under direct negotiation rather than open tenders.
